MOPS Day Camp, Week 2

July 13, 2009
Today was the 2nd session of the MOPS Day Camp. Becky joined us and the day was SO much better......not just for me but for the babies. They loved having their Mama there; it really cut down on my running time, too! Making "thunder" in the music and movement class. Can you see that even Lucy is doing it? Everyone pounds their open hand on the floor beside them to make a thunder sound.
"Feeling" for snacks. Sweet little Lulu couldn't even see her snack plate! Did that keep her from snacking? No sir!

"Need a boost, Baby Sister?"

Snack time at camp. Nope, no s'mores at this camp; we'll save the fire and the marshmallows for a few years! Today we had juice, goldfish and apples. Yum!

Best seat in the house!

Mingling.............

X 2!
After watching her brother mingling and greeting people everywhere he goes, Lucy decides to give it a try. Turns out she's a pretty good mingler and greeter herself!

Maddox discovered a butterfly, which is permanently lit on the edge of the toy box in the snack room.

Today's theme for Day Camp was "I will make you fishers of men". They had fish for snacks (goldfish, of course!), they heard the story of Jesus telling his disciples to be fishers of men, and they built a boat..............complete with nets full of fish! What a great project for a boy who loves to build! Maddox chose to paint his boat green; he did a very good and neat job of it too!

Working on his boat. Maddox loved this project. He has rolled a ball out of clay and put it on top of his piece of wood. Now he sticks a regular stick into the clay to form the mast for the sail to go on. Serious stuff, this.

Raising the sail on his new boat.

"Lucy, I found your boat over in the window!"
Maddox just loved these boats and was a little uneasy when they were put away on the window sill during Sensory Play. He kept checking his and Lucy's to make sure they were still there.

Putting the finishing touches on Lulu's boat.

"All done, Mama!"
Lucy had a little bit harder time catching onto the painting of the boat.......she kept trying to "taste" the paint! Luckily, her Mama brought along plenty of wipes.

"I made a boat, Miss Terry!"
I am so glad that Lucy has gotten over her fear of strangers. How could she not, with a
brother who is coming to be known as the official greeter wherever he goes! Two finished boats, complete with nets full of fish!

"This is our favorite room in the MOPS Day Camp!"

"Remember this, Maddox?"

I love it!

"Yay! Got my rocks again!"

Making bubbles

When Maddox and Lucy crawled into the tent today, I said, "Can you go 'night-night' in the tent?" Maddox pretended to, Lucy scoffed.

"Camping" with Mama.
Both babies so enjoyed their Mama being with us at MOPS Camp today. (I sure did too!)

Rice, beans, and Lulu's rock!
(See the little black spot in the rice and beans tub? Lucy decided to add a little variety to the tub!)

I was not one bit surprised that Maddox ran straight for a ball when he got to the gym.

"Got a car!"
When we went into the gym I was a little concerned that Lucy wouldn't be able to get to any of the riding toys fast enough. I needn't have worried.....she ran straight to this little car.

"Let's see, what else can I find to play with?"

Found a ball!

"Roll, ball, roll!"

Playing with the big boys.
These boys were climbing on the stand that holds the basketball goal, so Maddox joined them.

Maddox had been promised a balloon at the end of the MOPS Day Camp. If you look closely you can see two more that he is headed for.
