Disappointing news

August 6, 2007

Well, the numbers weren't what we had hoped for. They were only 26,000, so he will not be coming home to his room in Killen (pictured above) today. By the time they got the platelets ready to transfuse, he was down to 22,000, so he definitely needs help for a little while longer.
They will do 2 more transfusions (1 late today and 1 early in the morning), and then they are talking of transferring him to Florence. The doctors in Huntsvile will talk to his pediatrician, Erika Crenshaw, and see if she feels comfortable monitoring him and ordering more platelets if needed
Becky's new school has been SO wonderful; they are willing to work with her any way they can to help with Baby Max. To a person, they have all told her to worry about the baby first and then school. None of them will know what a boost that attitude was to Becky today. She feels she already has a family there at MSHS and she's never even taught one day there yet!
Today Max is 5 weeks old! We pray that the next 5 weeks will bring him to a safe and stable platelet count. (Once he begins making his own platelets the numbers will not go down any more). Until then, please continue to pray for our precious baby boy (and his Mommy and Daddy).
