Lucy sits on my bed, on a quilt that was made by 4 generations of Roberts, Gibson, May women. My grandmother loved to do needlework, and when she was homebound, Mom would trace off this cross stitch pattern for her to work on and shorten the long days she had to spend inside. Amy and Becky were in high school at the time, and wanted to work on some of them too, as did I. When all the squares were finished, Mom put them together and made this quilt for my bed.
Who would have thought that one day a little girl named Lucy would be sitting in the middle of this special quilt.....................stitched, by hand, by her great-great grandmother, her great-grandmother, her grandmother, her mama and her aunt? The fifth generation in a long line of strong-willed women. I don't think this tiny girl is going to have a bit of a problem carrying on that tradition!
