Birthday celebration
February 2, 2009
Lucy was so hungry she couldn't wait for the bread and herbs; she started right in on the menu!
Both babies behaved SO well; it was a very nice dinner to celebrate two beautiful babies' birthdays.

To celebrate Maddox's 19-month birthday and Lucy's 8-month birthday, Becky and I took the babies to one of our favorite places to eat this evening: Ricatoni's.

The apple of his eye

Maddox adores his baby sister..............and I am happy to report that the feeling is mutual. Too bad I couldn't have gotten to the other side to get a picture of Lucy looking at Maddox. I will guarantee that she is looking at him with the same happy expression on her face.
They are each other's best entertainment.
Happy Birthday Girl
"You play on that side, and I'll stay here"
19 month old
"OK, Lucy, you look one way and I'll look the other"
"Oh, MY, THAT'S not a kitty, Maddox!"

Lucy was completely confused! Look at that Barney Fife face! When I walked back in the deck door and she saw me she looked SO relieved, and gave me a huge grin.
Whew! Watching for kitty cats can sometimes be quite scary!

While Maddox and Lucy were standing in the play yard looking out the window for the kitty cat, I decided to slip outside and get a picture from the outside of them looking out of the window.

Sleep tight, baby girl........
Monkey see, monkey do

I was afraid that this would happen. This morning Mom's heat was out so we had to call the heater people. While we were waiting on him to come, I noticed my filter door was SO SO dusty; my thermostat had been flashing "change filter" for weeks, but I just kept putting it off. With the service guy on the way I thought I'd better get the filter changed. I waited until Maddox was back in Mom's room and Lucy was in the play yard to get my step ladder out to do it.
I was almost through when I felt little hands on my legs and realized I had a helper buddy. Mom thought it was so funny; she had followed him to the great room and grabbed the camera when she saw that he was going to climb after me. Luckily he couldn't climb very high; when the service guy got here and pulled the attic stairs down it was a whole different story.
Maddox joined his sister in the "library" then.
I could just see the visions dancing in his little head with that tall ladder!

I love it too..........it's one of my favorite things...............bathtime for babies. Lucy and Maddox both, as busy and active as they are, will lay so still, almost hypnotized while they are being massaged with baby lotion after their baths.
Can you think of anything sweeter smelling than a freshly bathed baby?
Me either.......

Lucy loves playing in the tub. We have to send Maddox to the "library" with a bunch of books so she can have a fun bath without having all my open shelves emptied into her bath. She "sings", she splashes, she kicks, she squeals................she has a good time.

'Boggan girl
Look who's sittin' and spinnin'!
January 31, 2009
No wonder the babies love Mom so; she thinks up the most fun things to do! I confess I never would have thought to put Lucy on the Sit N Spin, but she loved it!
She's been longingly watching Maddox sit and spin for several days now. This was one happy girl when Mom put her on it. ('Course Mom had no idea how it worked, but Lucy did!) She was too little to make it spin, but she tried........hard!......grinning from ear to ear! When Mom spun her around she giggled with glee...........(so did Mom!)

Yep, Maddox was taking a nap so Lucy got to play on the sit n spin all by herself..........well, actually she and Mom played on it.

Shape sorter tub

Take a good look at this small tub that is the bottom part of Maddox's shape sorter.
One great fun thing about toddlers is that they can figure out so many different ways to play with their toys.
Guess what Maddox used this tub for today? (I'm sure the makers of this toy never thought of using it the way our boy did today.)
What a nut!

What a nut!

Today Maddox found a new place to sit! This small tub that holds his shape sorters. I was laughing so hard when I caught him sitting in it I'm surprised that I was able to locate my camera. Actually he sat in it for quite a few minutes. Occasionally he would tip over, but that didn't bother him a bit. He'd just step back in and sit back down.
What a nut!
Out to eat

Becky caught this picture of Lucy drinking her watered down juice from her sippy cup. If you zoom in, you might be able to catch a glimpse of her two shiny new bottom teeth. They are not all the way in yet, but you can definitely see two little pearly whites.

Tonight Becky, Maddox and Lucy joined Mom and me at Cracker Barrel for dinner.

"What to drink?"
Sittin' and spinnin'
What a funny fella!

"I'll make you THINK catch me if you can!"

She caught it! Lucy has been fascinated with this rocking, rolling ball. Well, fascinated and frustrated, because when she tries to go forward to "catch" it, she scoots backwards instead. This little ball really is a wonderful tool to help determined little girls like Lucy learn to lunge forward to catch it.
YAY, Lucy!
